One of the newer features of the PlayStation 4 introduced with update 2.0 is the ability to play your own custom music from a USB stick. Upon first dragging and dropping my folders onto the USB, I was unable to find how to make the songs play. Nothing in Settings, no options when I held the PS button down.
Turns out, there is quite a simple fix. You simply have to create a folder on the USB titled 'music' and then it's just a matter of dropping all your albums in their respective folders. The PS4 will keep the organization of these folders. You can then access the USB player through a new app that appears automatically on your homepage, as shown in the image above.
If you're a neat freak like me, add album art inside each folder and the PS4 will then use that as the cover art for each folder. Nothing like a little Girls Generation while I slay the hideous Rhogar in Lords of the Fallen.
You can also switch tracks as well as raise or lower the volume of your custom music by holding down the PS button while in a game and scrolling all the way down.
