Neill Blomkamp changed one thing about his Alien movie because it interfered with Prometheus 2

It also has a title

A lot is riding on Neill Blomkamp's Alien movie. After an amazing District 9, the director has put out Elysium and Chappie, both of which received very mixed reviews. The franchise can also use a cinematic hit. Ridley Scott's Prometheus, which turned out to be a prequel/spinoff to Alien, was also met with a very mixed response. As gorgeous as the film was, it has a lot of problems and left too much unexplained that it ended up rather unenjoyable for many movie goers.

So here's Blomkamp bringing back Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, and Michael Biehn as Corporal Dwayne Hicks, for his Alien movie, which will take place after Aliens. Forget the others. In speaking with Empire, Blomkamp said, "The first two films ['Alien' and 'Aliens'] are the ones that I care about."

Well, Ridley Scott cares about Prometheus 2 and how Blomkamp Alien will mesh with it. The Prometheus sequel has been in the works for a while now. Considering they both occupy the same universe, and that Ridley Scott is producing the new Alien movie, it makes sense that Scott doesn't want any hiccups. As it turns out, Blomkamp made one change to his Alien movie because of Prometheus 2.

"I changed the one thing [Ridley Scott] felt was bumping 'Prometheus' a little bit. One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make."

I'm happy Ridley is on board so Blomkamp has someone to run idea by, but it sounds like his Alien movie has a pretty impressive story going for it. I'd hate to see any of that compromised because Prometheus 2 wants to do it a different way. Then again, if the films are going to be related to one another, I guess continuity is a must. As for Prometheus 2, I am curious to see where things go. I didn't hate the first one, but I left the theater very unsatisfied.

Blomkamp also spoke about the Alien 5 title when speaking with Empire. He has a title, and it isn't Alien 5. Empire wrote:

"I sent the title I wanted to Ridley," says Blomkamp. "It's kinda quite bold, but it gives away too much if I say the title. But in the event that it doesn't work, I'm dead in the water…".

Well, color me curious. Neither Alien or Prometheus 2 have a release date.
