Street Fighter 5 to feature series’ first cinematic story experience

Includes individual character stories as well

With less than a month until Street Fighter V's release, Capcom has begun to shed light on the game's story details, revealing that there will be two main components to the story experience: Character Stories and, for the first time in series history, a Cinematic Story experience.

Individual character stories will be available at release, giving players insight into each character in the game. Illustrated by renowned Japanese artist Bengus, the individual storylines will provide background information on the character, such as his or her motivations for fighting and their relationship to other fighters.

Once you finish the individual character stories you'll be ready for the next chapter — the Cinematic Story expansion, arriving as a free content update in June 2016. Specific details have not been revealed, but we do know M. Bison and Shadaloo will be the main focus. Chronologically, the story will take place between the events of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, and fully explain everything that transpired during that period. A teaser trailer for the Cinematic Story expansion was released today, and you can watch it above.

Street Fighter V will release on PC and as a console exclusive on PS4 February 16, 2016.
