SDCC 2016: Wonder Woman featured on the cover of EW’s Comic Con issue

See the famed Amazon in all her glory!

Entertainment Weekly's San Diego Comic Con Exclusive issue features a cover with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

With the 2016 San Diego Comic Con in the meat of its momentum, news and updates are dropping left and right. Every year, however, Entertainment Weekly usually dons their colorful media spandex and puts out their exclusive Comic Con issue. This year, the cover features Gal Gadot as the ultimate femme fatale superhero, Wonder Woman, donning her signature Amazonian armor:

The issue features an interview with Gadot where she's asked about her experience as Wonder Woman and what the character means to her personally, as well as to the overall mythos of comic book and pop culture history. She had this to say:

“We knew we wanted to tell a story that would inspire people: women, men, boys, and girls. And we didn’t want to just show a generic story of a superhero coming of age. We wanted her to be full and whole. This is the first time we are telling this story, and I feel like for so many boys, they have great role models to work with. They have Superman and Batman and Spider-man and the list goes on and on. And they are strong and almighty, and they are positive and active and proactive. I feel that I’ve got the opportunity to set a great role model for girls to look up to a strong, active, compassionate, loving, positive woman, and I think it’s so important. It’s about time that somebody will do that, and I’m very privileged and honored to be the one.”

This is the first live-action film incarnation we've seen of Wonder Woman, but it looks like Gadot has high hopes for the future of the franchise. Her first appearance was in this year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but WW will be featured in her own solo movie next summer starring alongside Chris Pine and Robin Wright.
