No, this isn't purely the big guy picking on the little guy

Life lesson, people. If you don't want to get sued, don't "borrow" trademarks from major licensed intellectual properties for personal gain. This is what Micheal Brown is facing for his "Academic, Stage Combat, and Sport Dueling" businesses which use names such as New York Jedi and the Lightsaber Academy after the Disney subsidiary filed a lawsuit alleging "trademark infringement, unfair competition, dilution, and cybersquatting."

The complaint states that Lucasfilm owns the rights to the terms "Jedi" and "Lightsaber" and that after multiple cease letters, Brown has continued to operate the businesses and has recently filed a trademark application for "Lightsaber Academy, Inc."

Brown also uses a trademarked logo, which is similar to that of the Jedi Order logo. See for yourself below per the official complaint.

As you can see, it's pretty apparent that Brown knew exactly what he was doing. And with the multiple cease letters sent, he had more than enough time to become aware of the situation. Lucasfilm is seeking a permanent injunction, actual damages and profits, or a maximum of $2 million in statutory damages for each trademark infringed.
