GameStop: Nintendo Switch Sales are “Phenomenal,” Could Sell Better Than the Wii

Apparently there's a lot of people Switching to Nintendo's new console.

Nintendo Switch has been selling really well. Like, really well. It even sold out of stock at many retailers almost immediately, although GameStop is restocking this week. After GameStop crunched some numbers, they announced that the Nintendo Switch could even outpace the Wii in terms of sales.

Eric Bright, merchandising director for GameStop, tells GameRant the Switch "Could possibly eclipse the Wii," with its already 100 million in sales. He wouldn't give specific sales numbers, but stated that they were "phenomenal."

"I can't give straight numbers, but I can say we're seeing one of the highest attach rates of software and accessories to a device that we've seen in a long time," Bright says.

Nintendo also hasn't provided sales numbers for the Switch, but we do know that they nearly met half their first month goal in 11 days after launch. Hopefully, sales numbers will come in at their report earnings on April 27.

The Wii in its day was a massive success, pulling in gamers and families alike with its motion controls, something that has somewhat lost its edge today. Not to fall to the wayside, Nintendo seems to be sliding right off of the commercial flop of the Wii U right back into the arms of success with the Nintendo Switch.
