Yep. They've still got it.

Dragon Quest XI has sold over 2 million copies in its first two days in Japan

News on the elusive Dragon Quest XI has been ramping up somewhat over the last couple of days, particularly with the announcement that the game would be coming West. The game has come out in Japan, and the early sales numbers are very encouraging. Famitsu is reporting that the game has managed to move over two million copies between both the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS versions combined.

Here's a breakdown of each version:

  • PlayStation 4: 950,338 copies sold
  • Nintendo 3DS: 1,130,468 copies sold

It's kind of incredible, but the handheld version of the game, with significantly lesser visuals, has managed to outsell its perceived superior version on the PS4. Then again, this is Japan we're talking about; where the 3DS reigns supreme.

Dragon Quest XI will be coming to North America and Europe sometime in 2018 and localization for the game is already underway. The platforms for the Western version haven't yet been announced, but you can guarantee that the PlayStation 4 will be at least one of them. A Nintendo Switch version of the game is also said to be coming at a later date.
