Fight as a badass President in Metal Wolf Chaos XD today

Now this is politics I would follow

Devolver Digital is celebrating the long-awaited launch of the Xbox cult classic remaster Metal Wolf Chaos XD. Gamers on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to play the remaster today, in just a few hours. Watch the launch trailer below!

These days, FromSoftware is almost solely known for creating punishingly difficult dark fantasy action-adventure like the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne and most recently Sekiro. But long before the Japanese company struck gold with their formula, they already were a beloved studio for their mech action games. The Armored Core series went on hiatus pretty much after the Souls series started picking off during the Xbox 360 era.

FromSoftware originally released Metal Wolf Chaos in December 2004, appearing exclusively on the original Xbox and only in Japan. The game went on to become somewhat of a legend as it was hard to acquire and even harder to play outside of Japan with most fans experience of the game through YouTube videos and the occasional screenshot. Devolver Digital and FromSoftware have partnered together with developer General Arcade to modernize Metal Wolf Chaos with updates to the game including upgraded visual fidelity, refined controls and gameplay, a new save system, and 4K + 16:9 support for modern displays.

Among their output, there also was a little-known mech-action game called Metal Wolf Chaos. FromSoftware used their expertise in creating mech games and created a truly marvelous over-the-top action game with it. You play none other than the President of the United States who gets betrayed by his Vice President. Naturally, you don’t go the legal route but instead jump into an awesome mech and fight your way back into the oval office.

What would become no doubt a massive hit these days, went mostly under the radar of gamers back in the mid-2000s when Metal Wolf Chaos first came out. It surely didn’t help that the game was a Japan exclusive for the original Xbox. Yes, the console which massively flopped in Japan. At least now the game gets a second lease on life with the Metal Wolf Chaos XD remaster, which goes live today.
