Japanese Sales: 10/17 – 10/23

The weekly sales figures for Japan have arrived for the week between October 17th and the 23rd. As usual, these numbers are derived from the Japanese market research company, Media-Create. Check out the chart below

  • 2: Pokemon Touroze – NDS – Nintendo – 66,000
  • 3: Kawasima Brain Trainer – PSP – Sega – 43,000
  • 4: Super Princess Peach – NDS – Nintendo – 38,000
  • 5: Dragon Ball Z : Budokai Tenkaichi – PS2 – Bandai – 34,000
  • 6: Kadokawa Shoten – PS2 – Shuffle – 30,000
  • 7: Brain Training DS – NDS – Nintendo – 24,000
  • 8: Burnout Revenge – PS2 – Electronic Arts – 22,000
  • 9: Super Mario Bros Famicom Mini – GBA – Nintendo – 21,000
  • 10: Tamagotchi DS – NDS – Bandai – 20,000

    As sales have picked up from the previous week, Nintendo handhelds have continued to reap the benefits of the Japanese gaming industry. Chart mainstays Tamagotchi DS and Brain Training DS have remained consistent sellers placing in at number 7 and 10. The DS saw two new titles release this week, each earning impressive numbers. Pokemon Puzzle pulled in over 60,000 copies, while Super Princess Peach sold close to 40,000.

    Sony’s Playstation Portable saw some success this week, as Sega has brought Brain Training games to the handheld.
