Nintendo is holding a DS Lite midnight sale at the Nintendo World Store to celebrate the North American release of the new handheld in what Nintendo calls the “Summer of Lite.”
Beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, June 10, fans can line up outside the store, as Nintendo will provide free pizza and a local DJ along with appearances by Mario and Nintendo representatives. The store doors will open at midnight, and the first 100 eager buyers will receive a DS Lite carrying case.
DS Lite is poised to be the cool new gaming system for the summer. DS Lite is less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS, more than 20 percent lighter and features a brighter screen. Priced as low as $129.99 at retailers throughout the United States, consumers will be rushing to retailers to get their hands on one. To date, nearly 17 million Nintendo DS systems have been sold worldwide.
