I love it when game companies listen to the feedback from their fans. Not too long ago Sony posted a survey that asked gamers what they wanted from the God of War franchise as God of War III approaches completion. One very interesting suggestion was proposed regarding a PS3 compilation of the first two games. Well fans, Sony heard you, and it looks like PS3 owners will be treated to some HD God of War a little earlier than expected. The PS2 versions will be tightened up so that they run at an impressive 60 frames-per-second and will be displayed at 720p. Additionally, all you trophy nuts have some more hunting to look forward to, because both games will include trophy support.
Sony Worldwide Studios America vice president Scott Rohde expressed his excitement for the game when he made the official announcement of its release today. “We are excited today to announce God of War Collection. Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected,” he said.
At this point I’m sure you’re wondering what the catch is, because it all just seems to good to be true. Let me assure you, there is no catch. In fact, I haven’t even shared with you the best news. Those of you who are lucky enough own a PS3 will be able to pick this game up for a reasonable $39.99. If that’s not a steal, I don’t know what is.
