NOA on Wii Kiosks

Weeks ago, rumors ran rampant that the world’s biggest video game retailer, GameStop, had an exclusive agreement with Nintendo to house interactive Wii kiosks only at GameStops and EBgames throughout North America.

On Thursday, Nintendo of America squashed the rumor, saying, “Playable Wii setups will be available at a variety of retail outlets. We expect that anyone who wants to try Wii will be able to through multiple different methods. In addition to retail outlets, Wii will be playable at a number of mall tours throughout the country, the nationwide Nintendo Fusion Tour and other grass-roots consumer events.”

The company went on to clarify, saying stores will receive two different kinds of demo units: one including a full display kiosk along with a Wii console and controller and another just containing the Wii console and Wii-mote.

Wii kiosks are expected to roll out at retailers across the country in the coming weeks.
