Above is the Legendary version of Halo: Reach. The package itself will retail for $149.99. These things are getting expensive.

The Legendary edition includes in-game Elite multiplayer armor, Spartan multiplayer armor, custom packaging, an “Artifact bag containing Dr. Halsey’s personal journal and other classified documents and effects that unravel long held secrets from the ‘Halo’ universe” and the Noble Team statue by the folks at McFarlene Toys.

Worth the price of admission?

Halo: Reach, as touted by Bungie and perfectly depicted in our own “Out of Reach” series (read that here), is a landmark game in the lifespan of the Xbox 360. It’s the culmination of the Halo series, it’s one title that brought millions of new gamers to the industry, it supposedly pushes the envelope for shooters and it may even be one of the last times gamers get to see Master Chief. To die-hard fans, this package is absolutely perfect.

To others… the game will release in standard form for the standard price of $59.99. No frills for those that don’t want them.

For fans that may want to bridge the gap and score on some of the action for less of the cost, there is a Limited edition for only $79.99.

Players will get the Elite armor, special casing and a field journal filled with art and other goodies.

As far as extended editions go, Bungie joins the ranks as one company willing to accommodate the lust of fans. Some may find the BioShock 2 Collector’s Edition more to their liking, with it’s vinyl soundtrack and nice art deco. Others may seek after figurines, posters of a stronger list of in-game content.

While the Legendary version may be expensive, it does come with a nice host of merchandise. The star of which is the statue. The biggest complaint? It doesn’t look like cats will be able to wear the artwork. We’ve come up with some solutions.

Before that, though, here’s a look at the multiplayer armor. Limited edition earns the Elite only, Legendary packs both the Spartan and the Elite.
