So that’s why Snake was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Snake is easily one of the most used characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This is probably because he's pretty damn good and sits at the top of several tier lists. Snake kicks a lot of ass, and he's a great addition to the roster of characters in Nintendo's fight fest.

We can all thank Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima's son for that one. It seems the reason Brawl got such a great character was due to the industry icon's son wanting one of his dad's creations represented in the game. "My child likes Super Smash Bros., so we play it a lot together," said Kojima. "And he told me that there's no character that you made in that game."

It certainly helps that the creator of the famed stealth action franchise is buddies with Smash Bros. creator Mashiro Sakurai. Snake was originally meant to be included in Melee, but due to the fact that the game was far into its development, that wasn't possible.

Kojima stated that his son wasn't the only reason for the inclusion of Snake in Brawl. "As you know, we did make Twin Snakes, but generally speaking, there hasn't been a lot of Metal Gear on Nintendo platforms," he explained. "So from that perspective, I thought it was a good way to expose younger people to this character, Snake. It must be working, as Snake is one of Brawl's most popular characters."

Well, there's that, and the fact that Snake is so damn dangerous in the right hands.
