The Neo Geo returns, still overpriced

It's been 20 years since we've had any sort of Neo Geo console. That's set to change this December with the Neo Geo X portable. The only problem? It weighs in at an unbelievably expensive $200! More than the 3DS and almost as much as the Vita for a system that only plays retro games seems a little much, even if it can be hooked up to a television and comes with its own arcade stick.

Included in the $200 price are several Neo Geo and SNK classics:

  • 3 COUNT BOUT
  • LEAGUE BOWLING
  • ART OF FIGHTING II
  • MAGICIAN LORD
  • ALPHA MISSION II
  • METAL SLUG
  • BASEBALL STARS II
  • MUTATION NATION
  • CYBER LIP
  • NAM 1975
  • FATAL FURY
  • PUZZLED
  • FATAL FURY SPECIAL
  • REAL BOUT – FATAL FURY SPECIAL
  • THE KING OF FIGHTERS '95
  • SAMURAI SHODOWN II
  • KING OF THE MONSTERS
  • SUPER SIDEKICKS
  • LAST RESORT
  • WORLD HEROES PERFECT

While these titles certainly are tempting, there's something that rubs me the wrong way about paying that much for a retro console, especially one that has no real hope of new releases. But if you absolutely need your Neo Geo fix on the go, you could do much worse.
