EA promises investors NBA Live for next-generation consoles

NBA Live is set to make its triumphant return on the next-generation of consoles according to an Electronic Arts quarterly earnings call today.

Frank Gibeau gave investors an outlook for their 2013 plans during the call, which included "a full reveal at E3 including more next generation titles in development," for the coming year. "This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA Live, and Need for Speed."

Gibeau also added that EA Sports is prepping to launch "a brand new sports engine” that will be further discussed at E3 this June in Los Angeles, California.

The NBA Live franchise was originally set to launch a new title in 2010 as NBA Elite 11, but was cancelled one week prior to the game’s launch date.  EA then had plans to invest in a similar basketball experience in 2012, but eventually abandoned it, once again, a week prior to its scheduled release date.

This key questions now are: one, will we ever actually see NBA Live, and two, will it be able to compete with 2K14? Let us know what you think by commenting below.
