We know for certain that Wolfenstein: The New Order will release on next-gen consoles, in addition to the already confirmed Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. However, Bethesda is being pretty mysterious when it comes to detailing its next-gen plans for the game.
Now given that the next generation Xbox hasn't yet been announced, it's understandable that they wouldn't confirm that as a system. But what about the PlayStation 4? What about the Wii U — does Bethesda even consider that next-gen? All valid questions that Bethesda is not committed to answering yet. But why?
With Microsoft's next-gen unveiling set for May 21st, maybe they are waiting to announce some sort of exclusivity deal with the next Xbox. Perhaps some early DLC on Microsoft's next console? It wouldn't be surprising considering The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's add-on content was delivered first on the Xbox 360. Who knows, maybe some fresh details will be revealed at the event.
If not confirmed at the May 21st event, then I fully expect some sort of next-gen platform announcement at E3. Meanwhile, here's yesterday's announcement trailer to hold you over until then.
