Look, it's basically a done deal that Gran Turismo 6 will be released on PlayStation 3. We already know Sony is planning on announcing it at an event today in Europe, so it shouldn't really come as much of shock. Still, I'm a little giddy that a press release for Gran Turismo 6 has leaked a little earlier, revealing that the next installment of PlayStation's racing series will release in the holiday 2013 season.
The press release, which was leaked ahead of tonight's event, made note of connectivity with mobile devices like smartphones and tablets "for social and community functions." It also confirms that all of the cars and tracks from Gran Turismo 5 will be retained in Gran Turismo 6, in addition to an all-new lineup of historic cars, road cars, and race cars.
The UK's Silverstone Circuit, the location of today's planned event, will also be one of seven new location sin GT6. There are now a total of 33 tracks with 71 different layouts. More tracks are said to be made available online with the course maker seeing several improvements.
Unfortunately, there was no mention of Gran Turismo 6 on any other platform except for the PS3. Does this mean it won't come to the Vita or PS4? It would appear so, but hopefully we'll find out for certain tonight.
