Former BioShock developers announce fall release for Gone Home

Last year in May, a group of former BioShock and XCOM developers got together and formed a studio called The Fullbright Company. Now the team has announced a release date for its debut title, Gone Home, a story-exploration game arriving on August 15 for PC, Mac, and Linux.

That's only two weeks away. "We aren’t doing preorders, or a demo," co-founder Steve Gaynor wrote in a blog post today.

Gone Home will cost $20 on Steam and will be DRM-free via its website. The game takes players into the Greenbriar family home to learn their story by finding artifacts and clues through newspaper clippings, business cards, and more.

The game features music from some of the first riot grrl bands, Heavens to Betsy and Bratmobile. It makes sense — Gone Home takes place in 1995 and follows the story of Samantha Briar, who learns of the music through a friend.
