There were many wild stories regarding the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 this week, but perhaps none gained as much attention as an incident involving a GameStop employee and disgruntled customer.
It's hard to tell exactly how it all started as the video which brought the incident to light began in the middle, but the gist of it is that a customer and an employee go back and forth over picking up a pre-order for Grand Theft Auto 5 during the midnight release. From what I could tell, it seems the employee was requiring a photo ID and the customer was being a little uncooperative. He seems a little jerk-ish, but the employee doesn't act in the most professional manner either, threatening to give out his personal information (through business cards he was allegedly handing out in the store). Watch it below and see for yourself.
It's obvious that the GameStop employee acted unprofessional. That's apparent from the video. You just don't talk to a customer like that, regardless of how much of an a**hole they are being.
However, no one except this customer, the employee, and those at the store know exactly what happened. And for that reason, GameStop is investigating the incident. The company posted the following message on their Facebook page:
"Regarding the GTA V Midnight Release Video: We are aware of this incident and are currently investigating the situation. We regret that this happened, as we strive to ensure all customers receive a great experience when visiting our stores. We would like to extend an apology to the affected customer as well as any other customer that was offended by this event."
