It's been a while since the PlayStation 4 received its last major update. Sure, we've had a few minor ones here and there, but compared to Microsoft — which releases a new Xbox One update just about every month — Sony is slacking.
If memory serves me correctly, the last major PS4 update, version 1.70, was released back in April. So it's understandable, given that Microsoft just announced Xbox One will soon get Blu-ray support (as part of August's update), why PS4 owners are getting a little stir crazy.
Fret not, it's coming soon. Or rather, details about the next PS4 update are coming soon.
Responding to fans on the EU PlayStation Blog, community manager Fred Dutton revealed "more news on PS4 firmware updates [coming] very soon. Stay tuned." Unfortunately, Dutton couldn't get into any detail, only offering "more info to come soon."
The PlayStation 4's last major update introduced the SHAREfactory video editing app, automatic preload, USB export option, and the ability to disable HDCP for games, among other features.
