GAME SUMMARY
One of the most visually stunning features of SimCity 3000 Unlimited is the
addition of two entirely new sets of buildings: Asian and European. Hundreds
of new buildings, from the red-tiled roofs and windmills of a Dutch farming
village to the glass skyscrapers and pagodas of Tokyo, combined with the
original game’s North American building set give players a worldwide
selection of options as they create their ideal cities.
While SimCity 3000 is famous for its open-ended, no winning or losing
gameplay style, there are many players, especially casual gamers, who enjoy
the challenge of reaching a specific goal. For those players, SimCity 3000
Unlimited comes packed with over a dozen scenarios. Virtual mayors can fight
crime and corruption in Moscow, reunite East and West Berlin and rebuild a
city after an ecological disaster. Players can even create their own
scenarios with the new SimCity Scenario Creator and trade these over the
Internet.
Top on the list of fan requests were more disasters to torment their
resident Sims with, so SimCity 3000 Unlimited delivers four new disasters in
addition to all of the hair-raising calamities from the original. Whirlpools
sink ships pulling into harbors. Flaming pieces of space junk fall from the
sky. Green toxic clouds deliver building-dissolving acid rain on areas of
heavy pollution. And plagues of locust descend upon farmlands.
Other new features include the new Building Architect Plus tool that allows
players to model their own homes or imaginary buildings and see them in
their games. Players now have the freedom to create the perfect setting for
their cities with terrain they can edit. And in SimCity 3000 Unlimited,
cities can experience holidays and seasonal events such as a winter ice
skating rink, fireworks stands for the Fourth of July, a parade for New
Years or Thanksgiving, a haunted house with trick-or-treaters and flowers in
the spring.
