In a move that even the slightest gamer would call inevitable, Activision has officially announced that they’ll be releasing a new Call of Duty for 2013 during a fourth quarter Blizzard conference call today.
The conference call did not reveal any other details pertaining to the game, which is currently scheduled for a late 2013 release. Based on past information and release schedules, we’ll likely see the next installment to the series an Infinity Ward title – likely Modern Warfare 4 – that’ll possibly hit store shelves sometime in early to mid November.
The big question regarding the next addition to the Call of Duty franchise, though, is if it’ll be available on the next generation of consoles. Rumors are currently circulating that Sony’s set to unveil the Playstation 4 on February 20, while Splinter Cell Blacklist and Grand Theft Auto 5 have been delayed to a similar time window, so it appears that if the next “COD” launches in November, it’ll be on the Xbox 720 and Playstation 4, though likely to also release on the current console powerhouses, including the Wii U.
We’ll likely get our first glimpses of whatever Activision has planned for the Call of Duty series at E3 2013 in June. Until then, we want to know what Activision can do to make you fall back in love with the series? Let us know by commenting below.
