At E3 this year, Ubisoft made a lot of announcements, including Assassin's Creed: Origins, Far Cry 5, and the long-awaited Beyond Good and Evil 2. Absent from their usual playlist, however, was Splinter Cell.
It's been about four years since we saw the last Splinter Cell title with Blacklist. But, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot seems to still be interested in the series, according to a Ubisoft blog post and the accompanying video.
"What we can say is we're receiving a lot of sketches and proposals around the brand and we're going to pick one up," he says, "I think you will be able to see something, but you will have to wait for that." (3:10 minute mark)
So we can't really break open the champagne on a new title just yet, but there is brainstorming going on in the studio, as well as sketches and concepts.
Ubisoft really took E3 for a ride this year, and one of our surprising anticipated releases is Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle which releases this August.
