A number of people wrote-in Batman in the 2016 election

Despite President-elect Donald Trump claiming he is Batman when a child asked him on a helicopter ride, Batman got a number of write-in votes in the 2016 election. In Arkansas, a news team reported that over a thousand people voted for fictional characters like Batman.

It was noted by Community Relations Coordinator, Amber Smith, that Batman was the only superhero voted for despite a large number of superhero movies being released in 2016.

“When I go to speak to the students at the high schools during our voter registration drives I always bring this topic up. I have noticed a trend, that a lot of times the write in names mirror those of whatever movie is popular.”

“We usually have a wider range of super heroes. This year we only had Batman. In year’s past, Captain America and Iron Man were favorites. I was surprised that none of the Star Wars characters made the list this year. And our close proximity to Walt Disney World means there are always votes for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. This year, we saw some new Disney characters make the list, such as Goofy and Pluto.”

So if you're one of the people complaining about who won the election and you voted for Batman… you don't have much room to speak.

The unofficial presidential candidate is scheduled to have a brand new movie sometime in 2018 starring Ben Affleck. The film has a working title of 'The Batman' and will feature villains like Deathstroke, one of Batman's most physically imposing foes. The movie will begin filming sometime in the spring/summer of 2017 with Affleck directing.
