Acitivision is busting Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Key exploiters, but letting them keep the goods

What?

If you've been playing Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's multiplayer mode you probably know all about Supply Drops. Each Supply Drop has various weapons and skins in it – but you have to either grind for two hours to get enough in-game currency (Keys) to buy them or spend about $2 of real money for a 'rare' Supply Drop that will give you 30 Keys.

Over the holidays Activision held an in-game event that brought free Supply Drops to players. Unfortunately, a glitch allowed players to get tons of Keys from rare Supply Drops, by simply mashing the X button. Players could also accumulate the other in-game currency, Salvage, with a similar method.

The exploiters took all those keys, which would have cost tons of real money or lots of time to get, and bought a bunch of items and drops. In light of the exploit, developer Infinity Ward issued 48-hour bans to anyone who used the exploit and reset their key and Salvage counts to zero.

However, the allowed the exploiters to keep all those unlocked items that the glitch bought them.

Exploiters didn't really mind this, they got to keep their goods, but the folks that play the game by the book and didn't glitch are a bit upset – especially those that have paid real money for in-game currency. Basically, non-exploiters are saying that Infinity Ward might as well have done absolutely nothing than issue a punishment like that.
