In a statement released by Activision today, about 40 employees at High Moon Studios, more specifically, developers on Deadpool: The Game, have been laid off in efforts to “align its [Activision] costs with its revenues.” High Moon Studios also were the minds behind the Transformers Cybertron series, which itself went through cutbacks during development.
"Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues–this is an ongoing process," Activision said in a statement. "With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately, 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services."
Despite these layoffs, Deadpool: The Game is still scheduled for a summer 2013 release window, which seems to be set in stone. We here at GameZone wish well for all those impacted by the recent layoffs, along with a quick recovery time.
