After 10 years, Age of Wonders 3 is almost here.
Indie developer Triumph Studios nailed down a release date today for turn-based strategy game Age of Wonders 3, which is arriving on March 31 for PC and Mac — roughly a decade after the previous Age of Wonders title, Shadow Magic. Age of Wonders 3 has been in development for over three years.
Players can explore the main story-driven campaign or tinker with the Random Map Generator, which enables players to create kingdoms in different environments, such as forests or icy arctic plains. Players can use these custom-made maps in multiplayer, too.
Preordering Age of Wonders 3 on either Steam or GOG gets you access to the Elven Resurgence scenario, set in the ancient Heartwood Forest.
Age of Wonders 3 is allegedly the largest entry in the series. Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson contributed to its funding.
Last year, Triumph Studios bumped the launch from fall 2013 to Q1 2014 and then late March. It made good on that promise.
