In 2010 the episodic survival horror game from Remedy, Alan Wake, hit the Xbox 360 and sold a whopping 4.5+ million copies. The game left off with a cliffhanger that left millions of people pining for Alan Wake 2.
The developers did their best to bring life to the concept that was Alan Wake 2, they even went as far as creating a prototype for the game, but in the end it didn't happen (at least not yet). Remedy couldn't find the right partners or the funding to get the game done the right way, without making any exceptions.
Polygon obtained the prototype video of Alan Wake 2, but it isn't simply a prototype — it is the most polished piece of gameplay for the game. Sam Lake, the creative director and head writer at remedy revealed that Alan Wake 2 would continue on Wake's story:
"It's clear that escaping from the dark place can't be too easy and there should be a price to pay. So going into the sequel, there needs to be further journey and story arc for him to escape."
At the moment the Alan Wake developers are working on the recently delayed Xbox One exclusive, Quantum Break, but that doesn't mean that their dreams of Alan Wake 2 are on the back burner. Lake went on to say, that they "are discussing the possibility of an Alan Wake sequel with multiple partners, but nothing has been decided."
