Alleged PSN hacker group Lizard Squad calls bomb threat on plane carrying SOE President

Alleged PSN hacker group Lizard Squad has caused a flight carrying Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley to be redirected by presumably providing false claims of an explosive being on-board.

For anyone following today's crazy news, Lizard Squad was the first group to step up and take credit for today's PSN DDoS attack. Though another person has since stepped up to to take responsibility, Lizard Squad has not stopped its assult. They've even gone so far to spread beyond video games and make actual threats to airlines.

John Smedley, who spent much of the morning responding to fans regarding the DDoS attack on PSN and SOE's games, made the mistake of telling the internet he was flying today.

Lizard Squad took advantage of the information, tweeting to American Airlines that they'd been receiving reports that John Smedley's plane "has explosives on-board."

The group even went so far as to show footage from the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks edited with quotes from Counter-Strike. I will not post that tweet.

In all liklihood, it's a fabricated lie — which is totally fuc*ed up — but it didn't take American Airline's long to react. Smedley, who had been on a flight all morning, doesn't seem to be aware of what transpired while flying, but did acknowledge his flight was being diverted. He doesn't appear to know about the bomb threat.

It's one thing to attack video games, but when you make claims like this, it becomes a matter of national security. Lizard Squad's tweets not only affected Smedley's flight, but is now causing delays all over.

I hope that each person responsible for today's actions are found and wind up facing the harshest penalties possible. These people deserve to be jailed.
