It recently came to light that AMC Entertainment was considering allowing texting in their theaters. The reasoning behind the move was the belief that "You can’t tell a 22-year-old to turn off their cellphone. That’s not how they live their life."
The statement came by CEO Adam Aron, who is now backtracking on that thought.
That idea has quickly been shut down by avid movie goers. AMC has released a statment saying that they were going to listen to their audience and keep the texting ban active.
Instead of looking to ban texting, AMC will be investing $1 billion to enhance their theaters by offering more large screens, better seating, new food and beverage options, a "more engaging AMC Stubs program, as well as an enhanced website and "more functional smartphone app."
AMC theaters will be staying dark after all.
