Angry about the ‘Ninja Turtles’ script? Michael Bay wants you to just “wait for the movie!”

A couple of days ago, we reported about a script for Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles that Latino Review posted. TMNT fans, along with myself, weren't really fond of the changes to the characters and story they love. I didn't hear this until today, but apparently, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Peter Laird read the script. Here's what he thought of it:

I think the script that I read is so fundamentally flawed, and — more to the point — so NOT a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, that trying to make piecemeal changes to it in an effort to make it into something halfway decent is probably a fool's errand. In my opinion, the things should just be tossed out, deliberately forgotten, and the process of generating a new script really a new outline, then treatment, then script — should be started again.

Wow. Harsh words. But totally true. Latino Review made sure to point out that the script had a 1/30/12 date attached to it, which is two years after Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes were attached to the project. Keep that in mind when you read Bay's response to all the hooplah. Bay issued a response to the reactions, sayin, "The leaked script that different sites continue to comment on was written well before I, or anyone at Platinum Dunes, was involved with the project. That script saw the shredder a long time ago. This is tired, old news — wait for the movie!"

Mr. Bay, why would we wait for a movie that has nothing but bad press around it. Nothing that even resemebles something good has come out about your Ninja Turtles reboot. As a matter of fact, everything we hear and read seems like your movie barely resembles the Ninja Turtles that we grew up with. You're essentially crapping on our childhood with your ideas of what this movie should be. When the co-creator of TMNT says it's bad, it's gotta be bad. But you stick to your formula of countless explosions, a hot female lead, and reused footage from The Island, and let's see what movie-goers think when they see a flashy trailer after waiting for the movie.
