Rovio Mobile, developer of the popular Angry Birds line of video games, is opening a new studio in Stockholm, Sweden, later this year.
The company plans to hire 20-30 professionals, including a General Manager, to fill the new office.
“2012 is going to be a big year in gaming for us, and we’re constantly on the lookout for great new talent,” said Petri Järvilehto, EVP of games. “We’re excited to expand to Stockholm and work in one of Europe’s gaming and innovation hotspots.”
The company chose the location for its proximity to their headquarters in Finland and for the city's growing involvement in the video games medium. Wired Magazine recently named Stockholm one of “Europe’s hottest startup capitals."
Rovio's latest release, Angry Birds Space, enjoyed monumental success when it hit 10 million downloads in three days.
