BioWare Edmonton finally pulled back the curtain on the game that was previously referred to as “Dylan,” revealing what we had heard. Now called Anthem, BioWare and EA appear to have teamed up to get their own social oriented shooter that Destiny has established to be a viable market. Not only that, EA and BioWare have a long-term vision for not only the game but what sounds like the beginning of a series.
During one of Microsoft’s E3 livestreams, EA Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund revealed that the company believes that Anthem will be around for the next 10 years.
He said:
“Anthem is a social game where you and your friends go on quests and journeys. It’s a game that we’ve been working on for almost four years now, and once we launch it next year I think it’ll be the start of a ten-year journey for us.”
Obviously, it’s one thing to hope for something and another to have it come true, but if the gameplay demo that was shown off during the Xbox E3 presser is any indication, EA may have good reason to believe in Anthem’s staying power. That said, a lot can happen to deter that between now and when the game will supposedly release in Fall 2018.
Anthem will be playable on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
