April’s PS Plus games to be announced later this week

Sony will announce the full slate of free PlayStation Plus games for the month of April later this week, PlayStation Europe community manager Fred Dutton confirmed. Responding to PlayStation gamers eager to know next month's free games, Dutton explained that we can expect PS Plus games to be announced five to seven days before they go live. With April just five days away, that means we should be hearing next month's free PS4, PS3, and Vita games soon.

"In the interest of full disclosure, for the foreseeable future, you can expect PS Plus games to be announced 5-7 days before they go live," Dutton said. "We’ll be confirming April details towards the end of the week. Sorry to keep you folks waiting."

Dutton's comments were actually made on Monday, a day before the official PlayStation Blog of Asia revealed Mercenary Kings to be April's free PS Plus game for PS4. Although SCEA and SCEE have yet to announce PS Plus details in their respective regions, this is a similar situation to what occurred last month when PlayStation Asia also outed Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition as March's free PS4 game, even though it hadn't even been announced for the system at the time. Of course, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition did go on to become March's free PS4 game.

Earlier this month, Sony confirmed Mercenary Kings will be releasing for PS4 on April 1, but did not mention if it would be part of April's PS Plus offerings. It would certainly make sense though.
