In the past, developer Arrowhead Game Studios has made it clear that Magicka would be getting some love on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Since then, the game has only appeared on the PC. In a recent statement, Arrowhead explained that the reason the game has yet to be ported to the consoles is due to the lack of confirmation from Microsoft and Sony.
“We’re working on bringing Magicka to consoles, we really are,” said Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt on the lack of a home console port of the game. “The problem is that it’s not up to us. It’s up to Sony and Microsoft, really, but we’re working on getting it to consoles. That’s the way it should be played.”
Here’s hoping Microsoft and Sony do green-light the game in the near future, as it has already managed to garner positive review scores and praise from gamers. Magicka definitely seems like the type of game that could benefit from a console treatment, so let’s hope the X360 and PS3 versions are announced sooner rather than later (or never).
