We already know the PlayStation 4 is arriving sometime during the holiday season of 2013, but an interview with Assassin's Creed 4's Creative Director might have narrowed the release window to October/November 2013. Given that the game is also expected to release on the currently unannounced next-gen Xbox, it can also be assumed Microsoft's next console will release around the same time.
Speaking to Outside Xbox, Ubisoft Montreal's Jean Guesdon has indicated the PS4 (and next Xbox) versions of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will ship alongside the current gen and PC versions on October 29, 2013. "Same ship," he responded when asked if there would be any delay between the versions. Although, it remains a possibility that he was simply referring to the completed development of the next-gen versions.
We reached out to Ubisoft to clarify his comments, to see if maybe what he said has been misconstrued, but we received a generic PR statement re-confirming the October 29, 2013 release on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. It looks like we'll have to wait to find out about the game's PS4 release. And the actual launch of the PlayStation 4 console for that matter. Meanwhile, we're still waiting for Microsoft to actually announce the next Xbox, although AC4 already confirmed its existence.
