Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, Hellblade, and more coming to Switch

Nintendo continued their heavy hitting Nintendo Direct by announcing a bunch of great games coming to Nintendo Switch on top of Super Mario Maker 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

The long-rumored remaster of Assassin’s Creed III for Nintendo Switch is coming in May, a couple months after the PS4/Xbox One standalone release. The remaster will come with both the base game, The Tyranny of King Washington DLC, and the Vita companion, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.

On top of all that, the Switch version will come with a touch screen interface, HD rumble, and motion control aiming. Ubisoft also notes that “gameplay mechanics and ergonomics have been improved for an optimal gaming experience”. Assassin’s Creed III Remastered will release on May 21st for Nintendo Switch.

We also learned that acclaimed psychological horror game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is coming to Nintendo Switch this spring. The previously PS4 exclusive developed by the now Microsoft-owned studio Ninja Theory was praised for this narrative experience due to its treatment of mental health and a strong female protagonist.

It’s very interesting to see that Microsoft was willing to put this game on Nintendo Switch, perhaps continuing to signal a bright future between the two gaming giants. EA’s surprise sequel to Unravel will also come to Nintendo Switch this March. The co-op puzzle platformer will make its debut on Nintendo’s handheld/console hybrid on March 22nd, 2019.

Square Enix is bringing two Final Fantasy games to Nintendo Switch starting with Final Fantasy IX which will be available starting today (also available on Xbox One and PC). Beloved classic Final Fantasy VII will follow on Nintendo Switch on March 26th (alongside an Xbox One release).

“Zidane and the Tantalus Theater Tropuue have kidnapped Princess Garnet, the heir of Alexandria. To their surprise, however, the princess herself yearned to escape the castle. Through a series of unusual circumstances, she and her personal guard, Steiner, fall in with Zidane and set out on an incredible journey. Meeting unforgettable characters like Vivi and Quina along the way, they learn about themselves, the secrets of the Crystals, and a malevolent force that threatens to destroy their world,” reads the launch trailer description for Final Fantasy IX.
