August’s PS Plus games announced for PS4, PS3, and Vita

Forget waiting for the PS Blog to update, Sony has gone ahead and revealed August's lineup of free PlayStation Plus games via its PlayStation YouTube. Starting with North America, PS Plus members can look forward to a slew of great titles for PS4, PS3, and Vita including FEZ, Crysis 3 and Dragon's Crown. As a reminder, all PS Plus games will be released at once on the first Tuesday of next month. That's August 5, for those who don't have a calendar.

Below is the full lineup of games you can look forward to downloading for free next month.

PS4

Road Not Taken

Road Not Taken is a game about "life's surprises, both positive and negative." It's Spry Fox's take on Robert Frost's poem of the same name, which sees you wandering through a mysterious forest in the aftermath of a large snowstorm. Road Not Taken is a puzzle roguelike which means you can play for dozens of hours and no two sessions will ever be quite alike.

FEZ

I'm a little upset with this one seeing as how I just purchased it on Steam through the Summer Sale. Whatever, $2.50, right? Either way, this has been on my list of games to play ever since watching Indie Game: The Movie. For those unfamiliar with this game, it's a 2D platformer set in a 3D world. Yeah, once you see, you'll understand.

PS3

Crysis 3

Like playing pretty games? Well, you're in for a treat with Crysis 3. It's a Crytek game, so here's what to expect: gorgeous visuals with pretty bland gameplay.

Proteus

Proteus is a highly stylized game all about exploration and immersion in a drema-like island world where the soundtrack to your play is created to your surroundings. As evidenced by my excitement for Hohokum, I'm clearly a fan of these off-the-wall type games. Admittedly, I don't really know what the goal fo Proteus is as this is the first time I've really taken a look at it, but I'm excited.

PS Vita

Metrico

Metrico is basically world built from all sorts of infographics, like bar diagrams, pie charts, and line graphs. Again, it may seem like your typical platformer, but the fact that these infographics constantly change based on your actions, movements and inputs will make traversing the game world exciting and fun (hopefully — I haven't yet played it).

Dragon's Crown

Like hack-and-slashers? Liek beat'em ups? Like big boobs? Dragon's Crown is probably worth checking it out now. Controversial visuals aside, Dragon's Crown is built around cooperative play, epic boss fights and the ability to discover a new adventure in every play session.
