The Chinese government has recently banned Battlefield 4 in the country because the game’s “China Rising” DLC “threatens” national security, this according to the country's Ministry of Culture in a story first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The add-on features four playable multiplayer maps on the Chinese mainland, which has already aroused displeasure in China. Last week, a Chinese media outlet criticized Battlefield 4 for "discrediting China's image" and "distorting the truth in an effort to mislead young people."
However, the ban isn’t expected to hurt publisher Electronic Arts, because EA does not sell the game in China. In fact, the decision may lead to more gamers in China to pirate the title online, which has been its own topic of discussion since China began censoring the video game industry many years ago.
