All of DICE's future projects or expansions have been put on hold until the problems affecting Battlefield 4 are fixed, an EA representative said. The publisher hasn't specified whether this applies to the team working on the new Star Wars Battlefront, or just future Battlefield content.
Speaking to IGN, the rep confirmed Battlefield 4 developer DICE is "not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all of the issues with Battlefield 4."
"We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game — it is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game."
Yesterday, Battlefield 4's expansion China Rising was made available to all Premium members, but led to even more problems with the game which has been experiencing all sorts of glitches, server limitations, and crashes since its launch in October. DICE has been releasing updates as fast as they can, but with all versions of the game experiencing various issues, it doesn't seem fast enough. Just yesterday the studio delayed a game update for the PS4 that was designed to fix the one-shot kill bug.
As for why China Rising was released with the game in its current condition, the EA rep justified that it was "already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4."
"We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain," EA said. "We will not stop until this is right."
I've been playing Battlefield 4 on PC for about a week now and I've yet to encounter any major game-breaking bugs. Though I've noticed a few apparent one-shot kills, I figured it was just because I sucked at the game — at least now I have an excuse.
