Bethesda announces Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Return to the front on May 5th in Wolfestein's new standalone DLC

In a surprise announcement today, Bethesda revealed Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, new standalone DLC that acts as a prequel 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Serving as a two-part adventure, The Old Blood takes you back to an alternate version of 1946 with the Nazis on the brink of winning World War II. Once again, you'll play as B.J. Blazkowicz as he travels deep within Bavaria. Part one of The Old Blood – "Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves" – pits BJ Blazkowicz against a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead’s compound. Part two – "The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schnabbs – the search continues, leading Blazkowicz to the city of Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.

It's been a few months since we've last fought the Nazi regime in Wolfestein, but we had a blast when it first released. Returning to this world, for developer MachineGames, has "been fun," according to executive producer Jerk Gustafsson. “We’ve enjoyed exploring the events leading up to The New Order. We think fans will really enjoy the story, all the action and, of course, jumping back into the combat with new weapons.”

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be available digitally for $19.99 on May 5, 2015 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Additional gameplay will be revealed during PAX East at 10:30am ET on March 6th and 7th.
