Bethesda defends Fallout 4 DLC announcement

Bethesda recently took to their blog to give their community a little insight on what to expect from them after Fallout 4 makes its official release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC this November. The developers detailed how they would be supporting the game with regular updates, the availability of the Creation Kit and their DLC plans.

Now, Bethesda has made it very clear that while they have DLC plans – they have absolutely no idea what that content will be. They know the price for it, but not what it looks like because they simply have not been working on it. The developers have been working on game itself first, before splitting up to do DLC.

Unfortunately, regardless of the fact that Bethesda hasn't been focusing on developing DLC, some fans are upset with their choice to lay out their future plans before releasing information on things like PC specs. Responding to a fan on Twitter Bethesda's Vice President of PR and Marketing defended the choice to speak on DLC.

Focusing particularly on why they didn't reveal things like PC specs, Hines replied "We're not going to give out incomplete or inaccurate info before we know. That'd be irresponsible." When the fan asked whether talking DLC before a game's release was responsible, Hines defended the decision. "I think letting folks know our thoughts on it and how it fits into our post-launch plans is a good approach."
