Bethesda will gift previous owners Fallout 76 on Steam

You can't beat free

Users who already own Bethesda’s multiplayer spin-off game Fallout 76 on the company’s own Bethesda Launcher for PC, can look forward to receiving the Steam version for absolutely free. Previous owners only need to link their Bethesda.net and Steam account until April 12th to be eligible for this deal.

Yes, Fallout 76 still exists. Despite a massively disappointing launch and quickly becoming a laughingstock among gamers, the online Fallout game has been going forward steadily. Thanks to the brutal feedback from both critics and gamers, Bethesda has done the hard thing and listened to what gamers really wanted from an online Fallout game, to begin with.

Immediately after the game’s launch, the developer started pushing out updates that addressed some of the more easily solvable issues. But behind closed doors, the studio started working on major content updates and game changes. Arguably the biggest yet of these is slated to launch the same day as Fallout 76 comes out on Steam. Previously, users only could get the game via the company’s Bethesda Launcher on PC.

Wastelanders is the ambitious literal game-changer that is aiming to bring new life into the wasteland by – ironically – introducing NPC characters to the world. That way, an experience more akin to singleplayer Fallout games can be achieved while still retaining Fallout 76’s jolly cooperation. Even better, Wastelanders will be a free update for owners of the game!

So, PC gamers have more reasons than ever to give Fallout 76 a try. Especially, since Bethesda will be granting previous Bethesda.net owners of the game the Steam version for free. You only have to link your Steam and Bethesda accounts here by April 12th. Furthermore, Bethesda will also be giving users who link their Steam accounts the Fallout Classic Collection which includes the series early cult hits Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics.
