Bilbo Baggins is a badass on the new poster for ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’

Warner Bros. is continuing to build the hype train for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In addition to several new images and a brand new trailer that showed just how Lord of the Rings-esque The Hobbit can be, they've decided that they needed another poster. This time, Bilbo Baggins — the Hobbit referred to in the title — gets some time in the spotlight. The new poster looks epic, with Bilbo holding Sting (the sword, not the singer) against a dramatic-colored landscape.

You'll remember Sting as the sword that Frodo used in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which takes place years after The Hobbit. Martin Freeman, the actor portraying Bilbo, looks right at home wielding the weapon. I'd expect this to be the first of several character posters, and I'm looking forward to making a desktop wallpaper of all of them. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey releases this December 14th, followed by The Desolation of Smaug in December 2013, and finally There and Back Again in July of 2014.
