Tangiers is a weird one. Pulling both visual and literary references from the early 20th century, the first game from Andalusian Games places you as on outsider who upsets the balance of this disturbed world. Populated by surreal Dada-esque beings and looking like it could easily be set in a Dark City remake, you’ll navigate the world, avoiding conflict, practicing strategy and manipulating language.
The horror-stealth game began as a Kickstarter project and has just announced a schedule for both the beta and the retail release, September 3rd and November 26th respectively.
Alex Harvey, the creator, describes the game as wanting to take “a slightly confrontational approach to much of the game – from throwing in inconsistencies and contrasting visuals every now and again to stepping away from a lot of the normal narrative techniques and expositions that gaming enjoys. The main thing is our focus on creating texture rather than meaning with the game, and opening up a more immediate level of… slightly aggressive communication with the player.”
Tangiers will be available on PC, Mac and Linux.
