Blizzard considering new Warcraft or StarCraft game after Legacy of the Void

During last year's Blizzcon event Blizzard revealed the conclusion to StarCraft 2, Legacy of the Void. While the early access to the expansion was made available just last month to pre-purchasers, Blizzard is already looking towards the future.

Speaking with IGN at Gamescom, Legend of the Void producer Tim Morten revealed that the developers were open to expanding the StarCraft universe after the upcoming expansion releases.

"This isn’t the end of StarCraft, but it’s the end of this story for these characters," Morten said. "We don’t have any specific plans, but I’ll say that the universe has so much potential for more stories, clearly other stories could be told."

There has been quite a bit of interest in the conclusion of StarCraft mostly from fans of Blizzard's real-time strategy games who have been clamoring for WarCraft 4. It makes sense to assume that once Legacy of the Void releases that the RTS specialists would move right on to another RTS project.

Morten went on to reveal that another WarCraft game is as much a possibility as another StarCraft game, or even a new game altogether. "It’s very rewarding for us to hear that there’s demand out there for more RTS content in the Warcraft universe so once we’re done with Void I think we’ll get together as a team and talk about what would inspire us to work on next. There’s no question, though, that we’ll consider Warcraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas. Anything is possible."
