Blizzard drops banhammer on thousands of Overwatch players; Posts account names

They have the power!

Power

There's no denying that Overwatch is pretty popular right now, there are somewhere around 7 million players and hidden in these 7 million players are cheaters. Blizzard has already made it clear that they will be banning cheaters. Once a cheater is found to be using hacks, bots or third-party software to give them an advantage – they are out of the the game for good.

Of course, Blizzard knows time people might simply be so good at the game that they seem fake – which is why they are being careful about who they ban and making sure they were indeed cheating.

In a post on the Chinese Overwatch forum, Blizzard revealed that they had not only dealt with a number of players using hacking programs and methods, but they also listed the Battle.net name of every player who had been banned. In the post and another post on the North American Overwatch forums, Blizzard ensured players that this was only the beginning and they would "continue to take action against" players that violate their Terms of Use.

Post the names of cheaters and publically outing them might sound rough, but if I had been matched against a player that cheated multiple times… Well, seeing their name on that list would be kind of nice.
