Hold up a moment, dont’ everyone freak the f#$% out at once. At gamescom, Bloodborne’s Masaaki Yamagiwa made some concerning comments for those hard core ‘Souls’ players. He said things such as:
“You died a lot in the previous games, and you had to persevere, but one of our main goals with this game is that we don’t want to focus on punishing the player.”
“We want to deliver a game that gamers love. If the gamer likes the game they’ll definitely like it enough to have that bit of perseverance, but the way in which we’re making the game? The sense of punishment is much less.”
“We do want more people to share in this experience … new online concept and experience… will capture a wider audience.”
So yea, those sorts of words throw up numerous red flags for those riding the ‘Souls’ difficulty train. Understandably so, we want difficult, punishing, controller breaking, four-letter word inducing gameplay for that feeling of accomplishment. However, at this time I don’t feel like there is reason to freak out yet.
First off, this is From Software we’re talking about here people. These developers are the kings of everything troll. I’m sure they are being sincere in their points, but I doubt the game won’t be challenging. Yamagiwa also focused on the point that they care about their fans and what they think. Even in the case of spreading to a larger audience, they won’t disappoint the fans.
The team making Bloodborne is the ‘A team' and they’ve yet to let me down, I hold unholy faith in Bloodborne still. Chin up.
