Borderlands 2 for Vita? Pitchford would ‘love it’!

Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford would "love" to see a PlayStation Vita version of upcoming co-op first-person shooter Borderlands 2.

Speaking at Rezzed (via), Pitchford admitted that Gearbox is too busy to make the game for Sony's handheld system, but would love for maybe an outside developer to create a Vita version of the game expressing excitement over the potential of the cloud powered connectivity between the PlayStation 3 and Vita.

"One of the things I wish Sony would do is get behind Borderlands, because I'd love to see a Vita version of the game," he said. "I want to be able to have the character I'm working on with my PS3, and then when I'm on the road with my Vita I can just keep developing that same character because it exists on the cloud somewhere."

"Technologically, that's possible," he added before calling on the crowd to help pressure Sony into developing a Vita version of Borderlands 2.

"Perhaps some of you folks can convince Sony to start that," he said. "We're too busy to develop it ourselves. But I know there are a lot of talented developers who could take our code, our source and our content and perhaps create something like that," he said. "That would be exciting to me."

This isn't the first we've heard from Pitchford about bringing the Borderlands 2 to the Vita. Back in February, a fan created a Reddit thread in hopes of gaining the support and traction needed to publicly persuade 2K and Sony into creating a Vita version. The user emailed Gearbox and allegedly received a response back from Pitchford who basically said the same thing we heard at Rezzed: that they need some "partner's help and partner's commitments" to make it happen.
